TRAVELERS REST, S.C. — On Mon., Aug. 21, Trailblazer Park will play host to a free viewing party for a once-in-a-lifetime event, one that astronomers are calling the “Great American Eclipse.”
Located in the "path of totality" (see map below), Travelers Rest will experience nearly two minutes of complete darkness as the first total solar eclipse since 1918 sweeps across the continental United States.

The Trailblazer Park viewing party is scheduled to run from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. and will feature live music by Hot as a Pepper, celestial-themed face painting, and food and desert vendors. The Travelers Rest Fire Dept. will also be hand to keep kids cooled off with all sorts of water fun.
The first 500 people will receive free viewing glasses, according to event organizers.
