Toy Henry Surett, 89, of Travelers Rest, husband of 70 years to Pauline Pittman Surett, passed away peacefully after years of declining health on Monday, May 8, 2017 at his home.
Born in Greenville County, SC, he was a son of the late George and Cora Hester Surett. Toy was a WWII- era veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a very successful home builder for over 50 years, having built countless homes throughout the Upstate. He built and sold his last home at the age of 88 in 2016. Toy was an avid sportsman; he loved coon hunting, fishing, NASCAR and bluegrass music. He was a member of Clearview Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife are his two daughters, Brenda Miller and Tina Pace (Glenn); three granddaughters, Lindsay Miller Green (Titus), Shannon Pace McCauley (Travis) and Kristen Pace; two great grandchildren, Hollis McCauley and Ethan Green and one brother, James Surett.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one sister, Pearl Blakely; one brother, Fred Surett and a grandson, Creighton Miller.
Funeral services will be held at 2 o’clock Friday afternoon in The Howze Mortuary Chapel with burial to follow in Mountain View Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 7:30 PM Thursday evening at The Howze Mortuary.
