Douglas Oneal Newton, 87 - Travelers Rest

Rev. Douglas Oneal Newton, 87, of Travelers Rest, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2018.

Born in Adams Run, SC, he was the son of the late Frank Frampton and Julia Athalie Chaplin Newton. Mr. Newton was a retired Minister, and was a member of First Baptist Church in Travelers Rest.

Surviving are his wife: LaUna Thompson Newton; one son: David Newton (Martha); one daughter: Terri Mattson (Paul); two sisters: Barbara Thomas, and Athalie Lacy; one son-in-law: Donnie Berry; four grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his beloved daughter: Linda Kay Berry; four brothers, and one sister.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 10, 2018 in the Howze Mortuary Chapel. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends Saturday afternoon from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at The Howze Mortuary.

The family will be at the home.
