TRAVELERS REST, S.C. — The Travelers Rest High School Lady Devildog soccer team hosted region rival Blue Ridge on Thursday night.

The Lady Tigers scored first, but Ashlyn Stroud answered about halfway through the first half to tie the game at 1-1 with a long shot that hit the crossbar and bounced into the goal. Blue Ridge scored again with 13 minutes left in the half, but a score by Briana Hudson tied the game in the final minute of the half.

Both teams settled into a defensive battle in the second half. Neither team was able to score with both goalies making some nice stops to keep the game tied at two a piece. After a scoreless ten minutes of OT, the game went to penalty kicks. Both teams scored on their first two attempts and missed high on their next two kicks. A kick that bounced off of the upper bar by the Lady Devildogs followed by an attempt by Blue Ridge that just slipped into the goal secured the win for the visitors.

The ladies will travel to Eastside on Monday for their next region game. Spring sports are in full swing. Check the Travelers Rest High School calendar for the schedules.
