Devildog tennis playoff run ends

TRAVELERS REST, S.C. — The Travelers Rest High School Devildog Tennis team hosted South Aiken on Friday night in the third round of the playoffs. The match was played at Furman due to the weather.

South Aiken won the opening sets for the first three singles matches. Cross Powell won his opening set 14-12 in a tiebreaker. South Aiken went on to win the first three singles matches in straight sets to take a 3-0 lead.

The Devildogs led in the #5 singles match and in the #2 doubles match, but South Aiken won the second set of the #4 singles and then won the tiebreaker (10-4) for the deciding point in the match. They will play Greenville for the Upper State championship on Monday.

The Devildogs finish the season as Region 2 Champions and a 15-3 record.
