Jackets sting Devildogs on Homecoming

TRAVELERS REST, S.C. —The Travelers Rest Devildogs hosted the Greer Yellow Jackets for Homecoming 2017 on Friday night.

The Jackets showed why they are ranked in the top five in AAAA, scoring quickly and often. The Jackets ran 24 plays compared to the Devildogs' 48, but five of those plays were quick touchdowns in the first half.

Greer scored on their first possession to take the early 7-0 lead. The Devildogs moved down the field but quarterback Wilson Hendricks was injured on the opening drive and had to leave the game. The Devildogs moved down to the five yard line and kicked a field goal to cut the lead to 7-3. Greer answered quickly with a score and then forced a fumble. On the next play they scored to make the score 21-3 on their way to a 49-3 halftime lead.

Before the game, Homecoming results were announced with the Senior class winning the class competition over the Junior class. Eric Bayne and Bella Powell were named Homecoming King and Queen.

The Devildogs will continue region play next Friday hosting rival Blue Ridge. Kickoff will be at 7:30pm.
