TRAVELERS REST, S.C. – On Saturday, Travelers Rest Mayor Wayne McCall honored Edith “Nana” Williams at a birthday party hosted by My Sisters Store on Main Street. Williams – well-known for starting the area's first school hot lunch program – is celebrating her 100th birthday.
After Williams was greeted by dozens of friends, family and former students, Mayor McCall issued a proclamation making Saturday, July 21, 2012, “Mrs. Edith Williams Day” in Travelers Rest.
The proclamation, among other things, praised Williams for “providing excellent food and nourishment for countless numbers of children in the Travelers Community.”
