James Alexander “Buck” Wylie, 78, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 2, 2011.

Born in Slater, SC, he was the son of the late Jim and Jennie Guest Wylie. He was a US Army Veteran and member of Marietta First Baptist Church. A beloved husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather is survived by his wife Doris Gaines Wylie; sons: Neil (Vicki Marus) Wylie and Tim (Cathie) Wylie and grandchildren: Melissa, Joanne, Charlie and Nick.

Receiving of friends and family will be Friday from 7:00 p.m. at 2 Lakemont Rd., Cleveland, SC.

Graveside services will be Saturday at 3:00 p.m. at Grandview Memorial Gardens.


 

Roy Lee Lindsey, Cleveland

Roy Lee Lindsey, 65, of Cleveland, passed away on Wednesday, February 2, 2011, at his home.

Born in Haywood County, NC, he was the son of the late Ernest and Martha Ellison Lindsey. Mr. Lindsey was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War and was of the Christian faith.

He was predeceased by a son, Rocky Lindsey.

He is survived by daughter: Shannon Lindsey; sister: Bobbie Grasty; brother: Jerry Lindsey; and grandson: Ryan Ward.

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. with the funeral service to start at 2:00 p.m. in the Howze Chapel, and burial to follow in Cleveland First Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will be at 506 Pine Ridge Dr., Cleveland, SC, 29635.



Mary Elizabeth Dodson Moody, Slater

Mary Elizabeth Dodson Moody, 81, of Slater, widow of Henry Homer Moody, Jr., went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, January 29, 2011.

Born in Greenville, SC she was a daughter of the late Charles E. and Lizzie Jane Bright Dodson. Mrs. Moody was retired from Steele Heddle Mfg. after 26 years and was a member of Slater Baptist Church where she was a member of the Faithful Workers Sunday School Class and the W.M.U. Primetimers.

Surviving are her children, Mike Moody, Steve Moody, Dennis Moody and wife Pam, Suzanne Rochester and husband James and Patricia Moody; special nieces, Jean Roberts, Amelia Roberts and Martha Ann Huffstetler; 11 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 1 great- great grandson.

In addition to her husband and parents she was predeceased by six brothers, Cullen, Clarence, Harold, Wayne, Virgil and Guilford Dodson and a sister Catherine Dodson.

Funeral services will be held at 1 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at Slater Baptist Church with burial to follow at Moody-Turner-Anders Family Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 12 until 1 Wednesday at the church prior to the service.

The family will be at their respective homes.

David G. Bridwell, Travelers Rest

David G. Bridwell, 47, passed away at his Travelers Rest home in January of 2011.

He is survived by three daughters, Sara-Grace, Caroline and Anna B; Sisters, Nancy Finley and Carolyn Taylor; Brothers, Freddy, Ronnie and Richard Bridwell; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Friday, February 4 at 11:00 a.m. at Foothills Baptist Church on Highway 25.

Lora Irene Kelly, Travelers Rest

Lora Irene Kelly, 78, of 340 Tigerville Road, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 30, 2011.

Born in Greenville County, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Lora Hawkins Hart. Mrs. Kelly was loved by everyone who knew her and she was a lifetime member of Enoree Baptist Church. At Mountain View Elementary School, Mrs. Kelly was known to everyone as "Granny".

She is survived by her husband Pete Kelly of the home; daughter Rebecca Diane Mitchell of Greenville; and son Colin Larry Kelly (Sandra) of Greer. Also surviving are her grandchildren Colin Matthew Kelly, William Adam Kelly, Lora Hogan (Matthew), John Mitchell, Wesley Mitchell, and Abigail Mitchell and one great grandchild, Easton Matthew Hogan. She is also survived by two sisters, Earline Roberts, Frankie Edwards and one brother Scott Hart.

Mrs. Kelly was predeceased by five brothers.

Friends of Friday Nights Oolenoy Picking and Singing will be the Honorary pallbearers for Mrs. Kellys' service.

Funeral services will be held at 4 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at Enoree Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

Family will receive friends Tuesday afternoon prior to the service from 2 to 4 o'clock at Enoree Baptist Church.

The family will be at the home.
