8 people taken to hospital following Hwy. 25 wreck
TRAVELERS REST, S.C. – Eight people were transported to the hospital following a serious two-vehicle wreck in Travelers Rest on Monday evening.
The collision happened around 10 p.m. on U.S. Hwy. 25 at the intersection of Hawkins Road.
According to witnesses, a Chrysler minivan traveling south on Hwy. 25 and a Ford pickup coming from the direction of Gateway Elementary on Hawkins Road collided in the intersection.
The minivan, which witnesses said had a total of seven occupants, careened off the roadway and came to rest near the sign for the George Coleman Ford used car lot.
Firefighters with both Travelers Rest and North Greenville fire departments responded to the scene. The extent of injuries is unknown at this time.
The accident is under investigation by the S.C. Highway Patrol, we are told because an off-duty sheriff's deputy was the driver of the minivan.
