Video: Paris Mountain State Park expansion plans (Updated)
Update below video:
Rob Howell, president of Paris Mountain State Park Friends, discusses plans for the park's expansion following this year's Polar Plunge, held on New Year's Day.
Update (01/30/15):
At their annual meeting held on January 24, Paris Mountain State Park Friends, a non-profit organization that supports the park, provided details of the park's planned expansion.
A large parcel of land that shares a boundary with the park is being acquired by the group and donated to the park. The addition will add 160 acres to the park for more trails giving Paris Mountain State Park a total of 1,670 acres for visitors to enjoy.
The Friends organization has raised 78 percent of the purchase price for the land and has launched the More Park, More Play campaign to increase public awareness of the project and to aid in raising additional funds.
The public can help by joining the organization and becoming a member of Paris Mountain State Park Friends for as little as $25. All proceeds are given back to support the park’s needs.
The SC Conservation Bank, local foundations, and the public have been instrumental in fundraising efforts to date.
