Ernest Jones, 90 - Marietta

Ernest Jones, 90, husband of the late Robbie Leatherwood passed away Sunday, January 11, 2015.

He was the son of the late Clyde and Leona Jones.

He was a member of Cleveland First Baptist Church. He was retired from Doc Greens Auto Parts, where he was an Auto Machinist. He was a United States Army World War II Veteran and was among the first to land at Okinawa. He was also a member of Ebeneezer Masonic Lodge #101.

He is survived by his children, Kenneth (Earlene) Jones of Marietta, S.C., Robin (Paul) Douda of Marietta, GA., and Joy (Dave) Herrington of Taylors, S.C.; Grandchildren, Kevin (Heather) Jones and Jill Jones; Great grandchildren, Madison Jones, Isabella Jones, and Noah Jones; Step-grandchildren, Jeremy (Melissa) Munro, Jasmine Munro, Jennifer Munro, Wendy (Mike) Cone, Drew Douda, and Michelle (Daniel) Summers; Step-great grandchildren, Alexus, Ian, Kaden, Aeva, Roselani, Jackson, Jordan and Jameson.

He is also survived by his identical twin brother, Edgar Jones and brother, David Jones.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by three sisters, Alma Capps, Montez Robinson, Grace Jones; and five brothers, Haskell, Charlie, Paul, J.C., and Whit Jones.

Pall bearers will be Carroll Jones, Mark Crain, Kevin Hart, Jeremy Munro and Kevin Ward.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest chapel.

Funeral Services will be on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. in the Northwest chapel. Burial will be at Mountain View Cemetery. The family will be at the home of Kenneth and Earlene Jones, Marietta, S.C.
