Local church to host 9-week Dave Ramsey 'Financial Peace' course

TRAVELERS REST, S.C. – Beginning on Feb. 4., Travelers Rest United Methodist Church will host a nine-week, Biblicaly-based instructional program on personal finance.

The course — Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University — provides families and individuals with practical tools to gain control of their finances and set themselves up for long-term financial success.

The class began in 1994 as “Life After Debt.” Since then, nearly 2.5 million families at more than 46,000 churches and community organizations have completed the program.

On average, families who complete FPU pay off $5,300 and save $2,700 in the first 90 days. Following the class, nearly 94 percent of those families budget regularly, according to the course website.

The cost of the nine-week program is $93. Membership for you and your spouse includes access to the online resources and tools, a copy of Dave Ramsey's Complete Guide to Money book, FPU class workbook, FPU envelope system, FPU progress chart, and more.

Class times are Wednesdays (beginning Feb. 4) at 6:30 p.m. Topics include: Super Saving, Relating with Money, cash flow planning, dumping debt, buyer beware, the role of insurance, retirement and college planing, real estate and mortgages, and “the great misunderstanding.”

Travelers Rest United Methodist Church is located at 19 S. Main St.
