Area fire chiefs issue burn bans

TRAVELERS REST, S.C. – Dangerous conditions have led area fire chiefs to ban all outside fires until further notice.

Travelers Rest Fire Chief Richard Johnson and Tigerville Fire Chief Russell Ledford have both issued "No Burn" orders, and the SC Forestry Commission has issued a statewide Red Flag Alert.

National Weather Service forecasters have called for wind gusts of up to 35 mph on Saturday, with relative humidity values around 25 percent.

Any fires that develop will spread rapidly, forecasters said.
