Then and Now: Slater's Main Street

"Main Street" as it was called in Slater consisted of one building that had been built by the mill in 1928. It housed a grocery store (Whitmire's Cash Grocery, pictured far left), a barber shop, a flower shop, and a restaurant. (Source: Echoes, Volume 12, 1996)

Today, the building is owned by Foothills Family Resources. In addition to the Foothills offices (on left), the building houses SHARE Early Head Start and the Slater branch post office.
