Updated: Travelers Rest man killed in Hwy. 25 wreck
TRAVELERS REST, S.C. – A 34-year-old Travelers Rest man was killed in a wreck that closed Highway 25 in Travelers Rest on Tuesday night.
The crash, which was reported around 10 p.m., happened at the intersection of Foot Hills Road, just south of Reedy River Baptist Church.
According to the Greenville County Coroner's Office, Jason Matthews Jenkins, of Grayson Drive, was killed in the wreck, which involved a tractor-trailer.
Coroner B. Parks Evans said Jenkins was the driver of a car that pulled from Foot Hills Road onto Highway 25 into the path of the southbound tractor-trailer.

Evans said the tractor-trailer struck the automobile on the driver's side, pushing it across the roadway and down an embankment on the opposite side of the roadway.
Response to the wreck included firefighters with Duncan Chapel and Berea fire departments, officers with the Travelers Rest Police Dept., S.C. Highway Patrol troopers, Greenville County EMS units, Greenville County Sheriff's Office accident reconstruction team members, and SCDOT workers.
Highway 25 was closed from Foot Hills Road to Roe Ford Road as crews worked the scene.
Jenkins was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the wreck, Evans said.
There is no word on injuries, if any, sustained by the driver of the tractor-trailer.
