Margaret Boyter Ross McNeely, 91 - Taylors

Margaret Boyter Ross McNeely, 91 years old, of 154 Brooke Lee Circle, Taylors, SC, departed this life on Sunday, March 22, 2015, to join loved ones in Heaven. She lived her life serving others, and even in death, after suffering health problems, she continued to comfort others in the Cottages at Brush Creek where she made countless friends.

She was born in Spartanburg County on February 9, 1924, to the late Ben and Laura Boyter. She was also predeceased by her husband, Rev. William McNeely and former husband of 63 years, George E. Ross. In addition, three infant children preceded her in death: Billy, Jerry and Dianne Ross. Also preceding her were a grandson, David Ross; brothers: Joe, Vester and Wilbur Boyter.

Surviving are son, Larry and his wife Margaret Ross; grandchildren: Beverly (Steve) Waddell, Andrea (Elliott) Batson, Stephanie (Eric) Andrews, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by two sisters, Azile Dickson and Carolyn (Troy) Webster.

She was an active church member of the Southern Baptist faith, having served for many years as a Sunday School teacher and an active choir member. At the time of her death, she was a member of the First Baptist Church of Travelers Rest.

She worked in Business Administration at Furman University for 10 years. Later she worked at The Greenville Chamber of Commerce in Business Administration and retired from there after 6 years of service.

Rev. and Mrs. McNeely served as Southern Baptist Home Missionaries in West Virginia for three years before returning to Traveler Rest. After their return, they were active in local church ministry, with focus on visitation programs.

A graveside service will be held at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Greer, SC on Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. The service will be conducted by Rev. John Dill. Visitation will be after the graveside service.

The family will be at the home of Larry and Margaret Ross at 154 Brooke Lee Circle, Taylors, SC 29687.
