Shirley McAlister, 80 - Travelers Rest

Shirley Marie Hooper McAlister, 80, of Travelers Rest, wife of the late Melvin “Mac” McAlister, passed away Monday, April 6, 2015 at the Emeritus at Greenville.

Born in Greenville County, she was a daughter of the late Allen Turner Hooper and Rosa Floretine Reid Hooper. Mrs. McAlister was retired from the University of Florida where she was a Nutrition Aide; she was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and a member of Renfrew Baptist Church.

Surviving are her three children, Susan Roberts, Melvin D. Roberts, Jr. (Mary Ann) and Stephen Roberts (Susan); a step-son, Gregg McAlister (Paula); 12 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents she was predeceased by a son Randall M. Roberts.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 7:30 PM Friday evening at The Howze Mortuary.

Funeral services will be held at 11 o’clock Saturday morning at Renfrew Baptist Church. Burial will be at Mountain View Memorial Park.
