James Rudolph “Rudy” Cox, 87 - Travelers Rest
James Rudolph “Rudy” Cox, 87, went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 17, 2015 at his home.
Born in Spartanburg County, he was the son of the late Benjamin Franklin and Anna Kelly Cox. He was a US Army Veteran of Korea having received a Purple Heart, a graduate of North Greenville College and Furman University. Rudy retired from Sun Heating Supply after 30 years of service and was a member of New Liberty Baptist Church where he served as Church Deacon, Treasurer and Sunday School Teacher.
Surviving is his wife of 60 years, Frances Louise Pearson Cox; sons: James (Ginger) Cox II, Gary (Debbie) Cox and Allen Cox; granddaughters: Kelley (Bobby) Schmidt and Kristen Cox and her mother, Kelley Cox; grandsons: Michael Cox, Daniel (Garland) Cox and David (Katie) Cox and a great-granddaughter, Lilia Schmidt.
Along with his parents, Rudy was predeceased by brothers: Frank and Leland Cox; sisters: Grace Buchanan and Genobia Hall.
Funeral service will be held Monday afternoon at 2 p.m. at The Howze Mortuary Chapel.
Burial will be at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
