TRAVELERS REST, S.C. – An Upstate woman was seriously injured when she stopped to help victims of a car crash on Highway 25 in northern Greenville County earlier this week.
Vanessa Wright Gordon, an experienced nurse and the wife of River Falls Fire Chief Jason Gordon, was struck by a vehicle that hydroplaned while she and another person were attempting to offer aid to a couple whose Ford F-150 pickup truck had just flipped over the guard rail.
The wreck and subsequent crash that injured Gordon happened around 5:30 p.m. on Monday in the southbound lanes just below Gap Creek Road.
Gordon was crushed from the waist down and has undergone multiple surgeries at Greenville Memorial Hospital, where she remains in intensive care.
