Area back-to-school events
Greenville County Schools' first day of class: Tues., Aug. 18
If a child is entering Greenville County Schools for the first time, parents are encouraged to register him or her before the opening day of school. To determine where your child will attend school, call INFOLine at 355-3100 or visit the Find Your School section of the GCS website.
Area back-to-school events:
Elementary:
• Duncan Chapel Elementary (355-2700)
Fri., Aug. 14: Meet the Teacher, 5 – 7 p.m.
Meet your new teachers, see your classroom, and meet the related arts teachers. Find out about PTA, Food and Nutrition Services, bus transportation, and car tags. YMCA will provide information about our after-school program. Don’t forget to stop by and get a special treat from Dr. Lowry.

Thurs., Aug. 13: Back to School Celebration, 4 – 5:30 p.m.
• Heritage Elementary (355-6000)
Fri., Aug. 14: Back to School Meet the Teacher, 3 – 5 p.m.
• Slater-Marietta Elementary (355-2000)
Mon., Aug. 17: Meet the Teacher, 4 - 5:30 p.m.
• Tigerville Elementary (355-4600)
Fri., Aug. 14: Meet the Teacher Event, 1:30 – 4:30 p.m. (drop in)
Middle:
• Blue Ridge Middle (355-1900)
Mon., Aug. 17: Back to School Event, 3:30 - 6:15 p.m.
• Northwest Middle
Thurs., Aug 13: Back to School Night and Community Resource Fair, 5:30 - 7:30 p.m.
6th graders may pick up schedules beginning at 5:30 in the gym. All other grades may pick up schedules at 6:15. During this time students may pick up schedules, purchase yearbooks, visit with teachers, and take advantage of the offerings of several community agencies. Bus information is also available on this evening.
High School:
• Blue Ridge High (355-1800)
Mon., Aug. 10: Parent and Student Orientation (9:00 – 11:00 am – Seniors; 11:30 am – 1:30 pm – Juniors; 3:30 – 5:30 pm – Sophomores; 6:00 – 8:00 pm – Freshmen)
Students will have their student ID and the picture for the yearbook taken, receive schedules and textbooks, pay fees and debts, receive locker assignments, pay for parking, etc. Yearbooks will be purchased directly from Jostens. Athletic insurance must be paid directly to the coach. School insurance must be paid separately.
• Travelers Rest High (355-0000)
Mon., Aug. 10: Dog Training Freshman Orientation – 2:00 pm; Freshman Parent Orientation Meeting – 6:00 pm)
Monday, Aug. 24: PTSA Open House, 7 p.m.
Early Schedule Pick Up:
Seniors – Wednesday, August 12 – 9 am – 11:00 am (Dues = $10)
Juniors – Wednesday, August 12 – 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm (Dues = $25)
Sophomore – Thursday, August 13 – 9 am – 11:00 am (Dues = $10)
(Students may pick up schedules and purchase parking permits once class dues are paid and any debts from previous years are cleared. Parking permits are $15.)
