Joan Lucille Theisen - Travelers Rest

Joan Lucille Theisen, devoted widow of loving husband George Ingild Theisen for 57 years, of Travelers Rest, SC, formerly of Oyster Bay Cove, NY, died on August 6, 2015.

She had an endearing personality with many friends, and she was an active philanthropist in her community. Joan Theisen was a member of the Green Valley Bridge Club, she was an avid reader, and she especially cared for animals. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

She was a caring mother of Claude Ingild Theisen (Kem), Lisbeth Allen Theisen Garcia (Pete), Clifford Richard Theisen (Eileen), Susan Elaine Theisen Washburn (Brian), and Eva-Marie Theisen Fox (Tom). She was also a loving grandmother to Erik Svend Theisen, Lindsay Diana Theisen, and Zachary Robert Theisen; Christopher David Theisen, Dana Marie Theisen, Matthew Svend Theisen, and Lauren Eileen Theisen; Daniel Brian Washburn, Katherine Amanda Washburn, George Alden Washburn, and Benjamin Alexander Washburn; Thomas Pierce Fox, Olivia Grace Fox, and Audrey Lane Fox. She was also a great-grandmother to Owen Ingild Theisen and Henry Rush Theisen.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 9, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown, Greenville, SC. The Graveside Service will take place in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
