Heritage Elementary student wins S.C. Miss Heart of the USA crown

TRAVELERS REST, S.C. — Travelers Rest fourth-grader Mahayla Law was crowned South Carolina's Miss Heart of the USA Supreme Beauty at the state pageant, held in Columbia this past weekend.

With the crowning, Mahayla will next compete at the Miss Heart of the USA national pageant in Orlando in November, the winner of which receives a $5K scholarship.

Encouraging contestants to get involved with organizations in their communities that benefit those in need, Mahayla was previously awarded the Miss Heart of the USA "Queen of Hearts" moniker for her work with the Harvest Hope Food Bank.

Mahayla is the daughter of Jody Nathaniel and Michalina Mason Law, of Travelers Rest, and is a rising fourth-grader at Heritage Elementary School.

The Miss Heart of the USA pageant began as a food drive for a rescue mission and grew into a national pageant program that has distributed over 10,000,000 non-perishable food items to nonprofit organization, collected toys for Toys for Tots, and even collected and distributed much needed baby items for a Women’s Hope Center.
