Melvin McKinney Pace, 91 - Travelers Rest

Melvin McKinney Pace, 91, husband of the late Iola Watkins Pace, passed away Saturday, August 22, 2015.

Born in Greenville, he was the son of the late Roy and Tessie McKinney Pace.

Mr. Pace owned and operated Northside Hardware, and he served on the Greenville County Council from 1976 – 1984. Mr. Pace organized the Duncan Chapel Fire Department of which he was a member and Commissioner for 45 years. He was a member of Reedy River Baptist Church.

He is survived by one daughter, Brenda Pace; one son, Richard Pace (Judy); two granddaughters, Marion Garabedian (Lawrence), and Melissa Williams (Jason); four great-granddaughters, Mary Blair and Cameron Garabedian, and Laney and Ali Grace Williams.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Doris Gibson and Mary Batson; and twin grandsons.

Visitation will be held Sunday, August 30, 2015 from 12:30 – 2:15 p.m. at Reedy River Baptist Church followed by the Funeral Service at 2:30 p.m. Burial will be at Mountain View Memorial Park.
