Fire destroys Greenville County home

GREENVILLE, S.C. — A house near Paris Mountain Country Club was destroyed by a fire that was reported around 1 a.m. on Monday, according to officials.

Duncan Chapel firefighters responded to the call, saying that the home was fully involved upon their arrival at the Laurel Ridge home.

Firefighting efforts were slowed by a long, steep driveway, and Berea and Parker fire departments were called in to help shuttle emergency workers to the scene.

Officials said the home's occupant was able to get out safely prior to the arrival of firefighters, one of whom was injured and treated at the scene.

The Travelers Rest Fire Dept. moved resources to Duncan Chapel's department to help in case any other calls came in while firefighters were at the Laurel Ridge fire.
