Cliffs charity tennis event raises $2,500 for Howard family fund

TRAVELERS REST, S.C. — A charity tennis event held recently at Cliffs Valley raised more than $2,500 for the Jordan Howard Family Fund, according to organizers.

Howard, a lieutenant with the North Greenville Fire Dept., was tragically killed in September following a crash involving a wrong-way driver who had been chased by Greenville County deputies.

Tennis director Jack DeAndrade said donations were received from residents of all seven Cliffs communities.

"I am thankful for the gang that I coach at The Cliffs Communities, my PBI co-tennis professional Chris Brown for helping with the event, and for the donations from the local businesses to make it a really nice event for everyone that participated," DeAndrade said.

"What a great community we live in that so many people are so helpful, aware and conscientious in stepping up and doing the right thing in times of trouble."
