Business Beat: Tutti Frutti sets up shop on Travelers Rest's Main Street

TRAVELERS REST, S.C. — Calvin Bui, a mechanical engineer by trade, was looking for a career shift when he was encouraged by his family to open a Tutti Frutti Frozen Yogurt shop.

Calvin's brother was the first to bring Tutti Frutti to South Carolina when he opened a location in Spartanburg. His sister, who was a pharmacist at the Travelers Rest Walmart, opened a location in Greer shortly after. Calvin's sister relocated to Tennessee for work and closed her branch, but urged her brother to join the family business.

Heeding her advice, Calvin drove down Main Street in Travelers Rest and loved what he saw in the “new TR.” He thought it would be a perfect spot and a perfect time for him to make a move.

Calvin half-heartedly jokes that operating a Tutti Frutti is more challenging than engineering.

“Being a small business owner is hard,” he said, adding that he's passionate about the product and the community, which makes the hard work worth it for him.

The store strives to carry unique flavors and offer variety to customers through flavor rotations and a plethora of topping options. All of the frozen yogurt is mixed fresh on site.

Tutti Frutt is located at 36 Main St. and is open Monday-Wednesday from 2-9pm and Thursday-Sunday from 11am-9pm. Discounts are offered to Veterans. They are also open for birthday parties and events.
