Hincapie cycling event raises more than $27K for Meals on Wheels
GREENVILLE, S.C. — On Wednesday, George and Rich Hincapie and the Hincapie Sportswear team presented a check for more than $27,000 to Meals on Wheels of Greenville, money that will be used to provide over 6,000 meals to the homebound in Greenville County.
The donation comes from proceeds generated by the annual Gran Fondo Hincapie,a world-class cycling event held last October at Hotel Domestique in Travelers Rest and ridden by more than 1,600 cyclists from around the globe.
"Hincapie Sportswear continues to be a dedicated partner to Meals on Wheels,” said Catriona Carlisle, executive director of Meals on Wheels of Greenville. “Since its inception, funds from the Gran Fondo Hincapie have provided over 22,000 meals for our neighbors in need. The Hincapie team has combined their passion for cycling and love for this community to greatly benefit the homebound individuals we serve.”
The Hincapies and Hincapie Sportswear team also packaged more than 1,500 meals to be delivered to the homebound clients of Meals on Wheels.
