Vehicle crashes into building at Woodlands at Furman

TRAVELERS REST, S.C. — Firefighters with the Travelers Rest Fire Dept. responded to the Woodlands at Furman on Wednesday night after a vehicle crashed into the front of one of the units.

A spokesperson for the retirement community said a family member of a resident was leaving and backed their vehicle into the unit around 8:30 p.m., officials said.

The resident was in the home at the time of the crash and was taken to the hospital, but no injuries were reported.

“This was just a freak accident," said Woodlands media relations liaison John Boyanoski. "We are proud of the Woodlands team for their quick work and action. They followed all emergency procedures."

Repairs began Thursday morning and the resident has been relocated to another unit, Boyanoski said.
