Update: Missing Boy Scout found in northern Greenville County
Update: John Quay was found just before noon on Sunday off of Oil Camp Creek Road by a local family who was hiking nearby. Quay was in good condition, according to a Greenville County Sheriff's Office spokesman. The boy was checked by medical personnel as a precautionary measure.
MARIETTA, S.C. — Crews are searching for a 12-year-old boy who went missing at Jones Gap State Park on Saturday, according to the Greenville County Sheriff's Office.
The boy, identified as John Quay, was hiking with his Boy Scout troop at the time he was separated. Leaders noticed Quay was missing when they conducted a head count at 4:30 p.m, park rangers said.
Quay is described as a white male with brown hair and brown eyes. He is wearing a gray under armour t-shirt, blue jeans, and glasses. He is 5'2" and weighs approximately 125 lbs.
A sheriff's office spokesman said rescue workers were searching from the ground and the air.
