Updated: Goodwill hosts ribbon cutting for Travelers Rest location

TRAVELERS REST, S.C. — Last Thursday, Goodwill Industries of Upstate/Midlands South Carolina hosted a groundbreaking celebration for a planned facility at 1 Krieger Dr. in Travelers Rest.

The new facility, located at the intersection of Krieger Drive and Little Texas Road, will employ approximately 20 people in new, full-time positions and will include a retail store, donation center, and a Goodwill Job Connection, according to organization officials. It is scheduled to open in late 2016.

This location will house the sixth Goodwill Job Connection in Greenville County and the first in Travelers Rest. Goodwill Job Connections provide free assistance to help job seekers connect with potential employers and find permanent employment. Services include access to resources like computers and the internet, fax machines, telephones, and job leads and referrals. A trained employment specialist is on site to assist individuals with their job search.

In Greenville County, Goodwill also provides job training services to help people gain the skills needed to begin careers in manufacturing, food service, retail, construction, and nursing aid.

“Last year, Goodwill was able to help 10,596 people find jobs,” said Patrick Michaels, president and CEO of Goodwill Industries of Upstate/Midlands South Carolina. “We look forward to having a convenient, accessible location for the people of Travelers Rest and expanding the employment services available in Greenville County.”
