Upstate Senior Concert Big Band to perform free show at Slater Hall
SLATER-MARIETTA, S.C. — Senior Action will host a free concert featuring the Upstate Senior Concert Big Band at historic Slater Hall on Friday, April 8 at 10 a.m.
Attendees will enjoy a refreshing sense of community as the band plays music selections spanning the genres of big band, pop music, show tunes and familiar march and patriotic songs, according to Rebecca Farmer, Senior Action's site coordinator for the northern Greenville County area.
“We are very excited about having the Senior Concert Band come and perform for our North Greenville seniors for the very first time this spring," Farmer said. "We would like to see many of the seniors in the area come out and enjoy the music and to get acquainted with Senior Action and the many programs and events we offer."
In addition to entertainment, lunch will also be provided at a small cost ($5) for non-Senior Action members. Those interested in having lunch at the event must RSVP by April 4 to 864-498-8252.
The North Greenville Senior Action location has hosted a variety of local groups with the intent of providing a place for residents 60 years and older to come, meet and enjoy the company of other area residents while engaging in fun games, crafts, wellness activities and monthly special events.
“Our seniors love a good party, lively music and fun opportunities for fellowship. Whether we are dancing to our favorite Bluegrass bands or swaying to the smooth sounds of the Happy Strummer’s Ukulele band at our Hawaiian Luau, we are always having a wonderful time together,” Farmer said.
