Friends of Sandburg to host annual meeting Friday

FLAT ROCK, S.C. – The Friends of Carl Sandburg at Connemara will host their annual meeting on Fri., April 8 at 1:00 p.m. at the Flat Rock Village Hall in Flat Rock, N.C. The meeting is open to the public.

The guest speaker will be Tyrone Brandyburg, the park's superintendent. Brandyburg will discuss the national "Find Your Park" initiative, an integral piece in the National Park Service's 100th anniversary celebration in 2016.

Additionally, author and Friends board member Doug Gelbert will explore the history of the "hobo nickel," a unique art form and rare collectible.

The Friends financial support of the Sandburg Home National Historic Site goes for education, preservation and protection of the Park’s unique culture.
