Northwest Middle's Krissy Black named Teacher of the Year finalist
TRAVELERS REST, S.C. — Northwest Middle School's Krissy Black has been named a 2016-17 Greenville County Schools Teacher of the Year finalist, it was recently announced.
Black, who has been an educator for 13 years, teaches eighth grade English/Language Arts at the school.
The process of selecting the finalists began last fall when schools and centers across Greenville County selected their individual Teacher of the Year, a list that was reviewed and narrowed to the top ten by a screening committee and a selection committee.
The selection committee will choose the next Teacher of the Year after participating in classroom observations and individual interviews with the finalists.
Other finalists include Andi Buckless (Stone Elementary Academy), Amanda Catherman (Greenville Sr. High Academy), Kristen Griffin (Buena Vista Elementary School), Cara Preston McFarlane (Wade Hampton High School), Jennifer Murphy (Robert E. Cashion Elementary School), Lori Nelson (Paris Elementary School), Matthew Phillips (Blue Ridge High School), Katie Saunders (Bethel Elementary School), and Megan Schonhar (Greer Middle College Charter High School).
The winner will be announced in August.
