Robert Hill, 90 - Travelers Rest
Robert Luther Hill, 90, of Travelers Rest, widower of Maxine Edwards Hill, passed away on April 12, 2016.
Born in Greenville County, February 6, 1926, he was a son of the late B.L. and Mozelle Brown Hill. Mr. Hill was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served in the Pacific Theater; at the end of the war he was a personal guard to General Douglas I. McArthur during the U.S Occupation of the Philippines: he retired from Overhead Door, and was a member of Foothills Baptist Church.
Surviving are two daughters: Angie McCarson (Tony), and Debbie Hughey (Dan); three grandsons: Daniel McCarson, Robbie Randolph, and Landy Randolph; four great-grandchildren; two special nephews: Ben Ashmore, and Charles Hill; and a special fishing buddy: Gerry Guest.
Along with his parents, he was predeceased by one brother: Raymond Hill; and one sister: Doris Batson.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Friday afternoon at Mountain View Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Thursday evening at The Howze Mortuary.
The family will be at the home of a daughter, Debbie Hughey.
