TRAVELERS REST, S.C. — The Greenville Health System Swamp Rabbit Trail has been nominated for induction into the Rails-to-Trails Conservancy's Rail-Trail Hall of Fame, the winner of which will be determined via online voting in June.
The other nominees include Banks-Vernonia State Trail (Oregon), Hudson Valley Trail Network (New York), Rio Grande Trail (Colorado), and Shelby Farms Greenline (Tennessee).
Inductees are selected on merits such as scenic value, high use, trail and trailside amenities, historical significance, excellence in management and maintenance of facility, community connections and geographic distribution.
The 2016 inductee will be the 30th member of the Hall of Fame. A list of previously inducted members can be found here.
Hall of Fame rail-trails receive a variety of honors, including special signage to place along their trails, a Trail of the Month feature and a highlight in Rails to Trails magazine.
