Travelers Rest High School's 'Blue and Gold' wins awards

TRAVELERS REST, S.C. — The Travelers Rest High School Blue and Gold newspaper has been recognized at the state level for excellence in scholastic journalism for the 2015-2016 school year, receiving a Superior rating at the SC Scholastic Press Association yearly awards ceremony at the recent SCSPA Spring Conference in Columbia. 

The Blue and Gold also received a second place in their class in the Sweepstakes Award category for the most winners for the year. 

The following students received individual awards in the Spring Excellence in Scholastic Newspaper Awards categories:

1st Place in Advertising: staff

2nd Place in Art:  Beth Ann Townsend

2nd Place in Centerspread:  Austin Grumbles, Luke Moss, Kendall Silvers, Meredith Turner

1st Place in Columns:  Anna Edwards

2nd Place in News Features:  Austin Grumbles

2nd Place in Photography:  Holly Headrick

The following students received individual awards in the Yearly Excellence in Scholastic Newspaper Awards categories:
