Inaugural Upstate Walk For Wishes raises over $10K

TRAVELERS REST, S.C. — Organizers said more than $10K was raised at the inaugural Upstate Walk For Wishes fundraiser, held at Gateway Park in Travelers Rest on April 23.

This first-time event brought together over 100 attendees including wish families, volunteers and community members who fundraised to help grant the wishes of local children with life-threatening medical conditions. Participants enjoyed an exciting day which included a 5K walk, awards, children’s entertainment and more.

Donors who fundraised over $1,000.00 were featured on the “Walk of Fame.” Awards were given to the Top 3 Fundraisers and Top 3 Teams. Registered walkers who raised more than $100.00 in donations also received a commemorative t-shirt.

“We are so inspired by the participants at our Walk For Wishes who showed up to support our South Carolina wish kids and their families,” said Bill Tiller, President and CEO. “They participated as teams and they participated as individuals, but most of all, they participated as fundraisers, raising money to help seriously ill children in our communities."
