Annual Wheels for Meals cycling event raises money for 28K meals

TRAVELERS REST, S.C. — Meals on Wheels of Greenville held its 10th annual Wheels for Meals Charity Ride at Furman University on Saturday, April 30. More than 380 cyclists participated, and the event raised enough funds to provide 28,448 meals for the homebound in Greenville County, according to organizers.

“We are extremely grateful to our community for supporting Wheels for Meals over the last decade,” said Catriona Carlisle, executive director at Meals on Wheels. “This event continues to make a tremendous difference in the lives of the homebound because of the commitment of our corporate sponsors, volunteers and the cycling community.”

In addition to celebrating 10 years, the 2016 Wheels for Meals Charity Ride marked over one million dollars in funds raised for the homebound since the ride’s inception.
