Mitchell Dean Batson, 47 - Greenville
Mitchell Dean Batson, 47, husband of Wendy Burch Batson, died Saturday, July 23, 2016.
Born in Greenville, he was the son of Harold M. Batson, Jr. and Patricia Caldwell Batson.
Mr. Batson was a 1987 graduate of Berea High School. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice from the University of South Carolina and a Master’s degree in Education from Converse College. He was Revenue Facilities Manager for Greenville County Parks, Recreation, and Tourism and was the Otter Creek Water Park Manager. Prior to working for Greenville County, Mr. Batson was head Football and Baseball Coach at Berea High School. He was a member of Pelham Road Baptist Church.
Surviving, in addition to his wife and parents, are daughter, Emily Batson; son, Parks Batson, both of Greenville; brother, Brian Batson and his wife, Alison; nephews, Dustin Batson and his wife, Lisa, and Graham Batson; niece, Bailey Batson, all of Campobello; father-in-law, William C. Burch, Jr. of Taylors; and brother-in-law, Rock Burch and family, of Myrtle Beach. He was predeceased by his mother-in-law, Barbara Landers Burch.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Greenville County Parks, Recreation, and Tourism, Dr. Colin Curran, Dr. Bob Siegel, Dr. Kyran Dowling, and Amanda Fortner.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Berea First Baptist Church with visitation following in the church sanctuary.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pelham Road Baptist Church, 1108 Pelham Road, Greenville, SC 29615 or to the Dean Batson Legacy Event at any Wells Fargo Bank location.
