Travelers Rest Farmers Market launches winter CSA program

TRAVELERS REST, S.C. — The Travelers Rest Farmers Market has launched a Community Supported Agriculture Program, offering fresh produce on a set basis and for a set payment.

Participants receive weekly shares of produce harvested from a collective of farms. Shareholders pay an advance seasonal membership fee to cover the production costs of farming in exchange for a consistent supply of produce.

The cost for the 12-week winter program (from Oct. 4 through Dec. 20) is $390 (1st installment due Oct. 1; 2nd installment due Nov. 8).

Pick-up day will be on Tuesdays (beginning Oct. 4) from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Travelers Rest Farmers Market Office, located off of Main Street at 104 S. Poinsett Hwy.

For local businesses that have 10 or more participants, delivery to the location will be included.

A weekly newsletter will include farmer information, recipes and produce tips. Additional weekly items may include bread, so any gluten tolerances should be noted.
