Horace Dale James, 93 - Travelers Rest
Horace Dale James, 93, widower of Rosalee Cox James, of Travelers Rest, died Tuesday, September 27, 2016.
Born in Greenville, he was the son of the late Frank and Julia Smith James.
Mr. James served in the United States Army Air Corp during World War II, graduated from Newberry College, and retired from J.P. Stevens, Slater Plant. He was a member of the Lion’s Club, Masons, Shriners, and the Slater Sluggers Textile League baseball team. He was also a member of Slater First Baptist Church.
He is survived by one daughter, Jonie Price (Bob); two sons, Robert E. (Barbara) and Roger D. James (Julie); seven grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
In addition to his parents and loving wife, Mr. James was preceded in death by four sisters, Gladys Dunlap, Gaynell Collins, Jeanette Huff, and Ethel Perry.
A visitation will be held Friday, September 30, 2016 from 10:30 A.M. until 11:45 A.M. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest, with a funeral service to follow at 12:00 P.M. in the Northwest chapel. Burial will be held in Mountain View Memorial Park.
