Glassy Mountain FD 'Fight for Air' team competes at annual challenge

LANDRUM, SC. — Glassy Mountain Fire Department fielded a team of four firefighters to compete in the First Responder Challenge of the American Lung Association’s 5th Annual Fight for Air Climb, held on Sept. 17 at the Landmark Building in downtown Greenville.

The First Responder Challenge requires firefighters to compete while climbing 24 flights of stairs (516 steps) in full turnout gear. GMFD firefighters finished second in both team challenge and amount of funds raised. All four team members finished in the top 18.
