Glassy Mountain's Jason Sprouse to take part in Fire Service leadership program

LANDRUM, S.C. — Glassy Mountain Fire Department's Capt. Jason Sprouse has been selected to participate in the S.C. State Firefighters’ Association 2016-2017 Fire Service Leadership Institute. Sprouse was one of only 12 individuals selected to participate in the Institute out of a poll of applicants statewide, according to Chief Robert Staples.

The Fire Service Leadership Institute is offered to individuals to improve and develop fire service leadership at the state level through networking and education pertaining to the many facets of the fire service profession. The Leadership Institute is a 12-month leadership development and educational process in an executive level environment emphasizing communications and group project-based skills.

Sprouse has been with GMFD for six years. He oversees the Fire Cadet and Public Education programs for the department. His wife, Renee, also volunteers with the department as a support member. Sprouse and his family reside in Flat Rock, N.C.
