Travelers Rest's Mahayla Law wins Outstanding Youth award
GREENVILLE, S.C. — Mahayla Law, a fifth-grade student at Heritage Elementary School in Travelers Rest, was named the Overall Outstanding Youth of the Year at the Outstanding Youth awards ceremony, held Saturday at the Kroc Center in downtown Greenville.
Now in its second year, the award ceremony, presented by b dynamic! Productions, spotlights seven area students "that excel extraordinarily in their fields of study and in the community."
Mahayla was nominated by several people in the community for her achievements, including volunteering with organizations like Keeping Travelers Rest Beautiful, Project Host Soup kitchen and The Ronald McDonald house of the Carolinas.
She was presented with a trophy and a $500 scholarship by WYFF4s Geoff Hart.
