Glassy Mountain FD announces new captain, sergeants
LANDRUM, S.C. – Glassy Mountain Fire Department Chief Robert Staples on Tuesday announced that Engineer Greg Lamb has been named captain. Lamb has been with the department since May 2014 and was promoted to engineer in May 2015.
Lamb has more than 26 years in fire service and 18 years as a paramedic. Prior to relocating to the Upstate, he served with the Hilton Head and Jasper County Fire Departments, retiring from Hilton Head with the rank of lieutenant. During his time with Hilton Head, Lamb was recognized as Firefighter of the Year and B Shift Engineer of the Year.
In addition to serving the Glassy Mountain community, Lamb serves as a paramedic with the Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System in their inter-facility transport division. Lamb and his family live in Tigerville.
Also announced, firefighters Christopher Spencer and Branson Bowns were promoted to rank of sergeant. Spencer is a resident of Greer and has been with GMFD for four years. Bowns is a resident of Travelers Rest and has also been with GMFD for four years.
