Roy David “Billy” Brookshire, 86, of Travelers Rest, passed away on Saturday, March 11, 2017.
Born in Greenville County, he was a son of the late Franklin David Brookshire and the late Annie Lee Tereba. Mr. Brookshire was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp having served during the Korean War; he was a retired carpet installer; in the 1980’s he was a car owner in the NASCAR Sportsman Class having won at Daytona; he was a member of Hilltop Freewill Baptist Church.
Surviving is his wife of 65 years, Dora Lou Brown Brookshire; two daughters, Vivian Brookshire Williams and her husband Donnie and Peggy Brookshire Williams; a brother, Harold Brookshire; 3 grandchildren, Donovan Williams, Julie Cush and her husband Jay, and Amanda Grissop and 6 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a brother Clyde Brookshire and two sisters, Margaret Wilson and Edith McCoy.
Funeral services will be held at 2 o’clock Tuesday afternoon at The Howze Mortuary Chapel with burial to follow in Mountain View Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2 Tuesday at the Mortuary prior to the service.
The family will be at the home.
