Joyce “Mimi” Posey, 84 - Travelers Rest

Joyce Maxine “Mimi” Posey, 84, wife of the late Alvin William Posey for 50 years, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at her home.

Born in Whitley County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Willie E. and Evelyn Moore Dale. Maxine was the owner and operator of Town & Country Beauty Salon in Travelers Rest for many years prior to her retirement and was a member of Northwest Baptist Church. When she and her husband weren’t busy with their gardening, they enjoyed traveling in their motor home to visit family and friends out-of state, as well as visiting the many fishing lakes they so loved.

Surviving are daughters: Joyce McCreary Hardin and Jo Ellen Posey Turner; sister: Jimmie Geraldine Gliniewicz; brother: Bill E. Dale; daughter-in-law: Beth McCreary; daughter-in-love: GiGi Davis; 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

Along with her parents and husband, Maxine was predeceased by sons: Mark Alvin Posey and Thomas W. McCreary, Jr.

Visitation will be Tuesday morning, April 4, 2017 from 10 until 11:20 a.m. at The Howze Mortuary. A celebration of Maxine’s life will follow the visitation at 11:30 a.m. in The Howze Mortuary Chapel.

Burial will be at Coleman Memorial Cemetery.
