Travelers Rest, Marietta men arrested on child porn charges
GREENVILLE, S.C. — Three Travelers Rest men and two Marietta men were among 21 people arrested in a recent multi-agency child pornography operation, it was announced earlier this week by Greenville County Sheriff Will Lewis.
The arrests were conducted by the Sheriff's Office's Internet Crimes Against Children unit, with the suspects facing a total of 143 charges.
According to warrants, among those charged with sexual exploitation of a minor are Jonathan Kevin Capps, 42, of Travelers Rest (one count); Willis Steve Ramey Jr., 29, of Travelers Rest (two counts); Philip Walter Beamish, 73, of Travelers Rest (one count); Timothy Eugene Guthrie, 50, of Marietta (one count); and Christopher James Embry, 38, of Marietta (twenty counts).
Lewis said cases involved photos and videos of victims as young as two years old in various circumstances.
The county's Internet Crimes Against Children unit was established in January of this year and has five investigators, Willis said.
