Public input sought for Poinsett Hwy., Center St. development

TRAVELERS REST, S.C. — The city of Travelers Rest has hired a Greenville-based design firm to develop a master plan for North and South Poinsett Highway and Center Street between U.S. 25 and U.S. 276.

Alta Planning + Design, who previously developed the Travelers Rest Main Street master plan, is tasked with conceptualizing design and planning for development and redevelopment of these corridors, ranging from land use, transportation, and short- and long-term strategies to encourage economic development, according to city officials.

The public is encouraged to participate in various stages of the planning process. All public meetings will be held at the Travelers Rest Fire Station located on Trailblazer Dr.

• Tues., Aug. 22: A  project kickoff input meeting will be held at 6 p.m.

• Wed., Aug. 23: The Alta team will host an open studio session from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

• Wed., Aug. 23: The Alta team will host an informal presentation of work-to-date to be shown beginning at 6 p.m.

• Thurs., Aug. 24: The Alta team will conduct a public presentation of their recommendations beginning at 6 p.m.
