Olis Garvin Chastain, 88 - Travelers Rest

Olis Garvin Chastain, 88, of Travelers Rest, passed away on Monday, September 18, 2017 at McCall Hospice House.

Born in Pickens County, he was a son of the late Abner Oscar and Bertha Elizabeth Masters Chastain. Mr. Chastain was a U.S. Army veteran of Korea; a member of the Cooper Masonic Lodge #282; he worked at the J.P. Stevens Slater Plant for 21 years; he was owner of Chastain Produce for 21 years; he retired from BI-LO after 10 years; he was a member of Clearview Baptist Church, where he was a Deacon for 3 terms, a Sunday School Teacher and Sunday School Superintendent for 7 years.

Surviving is his wife of 64+ years, Louise Stansell Chastain; two sons, Steven Chastain (Angie) and Timothy Chastain (Alona); one daughter, Sheila Rainwater (Darrell); 1 brother, Carlee Chastain; 8 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by 2 sisters and 6 brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 2 o’clock Friday afternoon at Clearview Baptist Church with burial to follow in Mountain View Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:45 PM Friday at the church prior to the service.

The family will be at the home of his daughter Sheila Rainwater.
